The objective of the study is to examine the effect of the effect of globalization on bank performance in Nigeria using annual secondary data from 1992 to 2014. This becomes imperative because globalization has created some distinctive characteristics in the Nigeria banking industry, one of which is the removal of barriers to entry resulting in a rush into the domestic banking industry and thereby leading to increased competition which requires the need for banks to be efficient in the delivery of services at competitive prices. In an attempt to achieve the broad objective of this study, the ordinary least square (OLS) multiple regression was utilized to test the three hypotheses formulated for the study in order to analyse the effect of globalization on banking operation in Nigeria. The data for the analysis of the model were collected from secondary sources to include the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Statistical Bulletin and the results of the regression model was facilitated using the Econometric View (E-View). The result of the analysis shows clearly that foreign trade and foreign capital inflows exert a significant positive effect on the level of commercial bank operational performance in Nigeria. It was also established that exchange rate show no effect on commercial bank operational performance in Nigeria. The implication of this result is that globalization has a significant positive effect on commercial bank operational performance in Nigeria. Among others, the study recommended that banks in Nigeria should not relent in their interaction with their foreign counterpart in doing business in order to increase their foreign earnings.
